Sharing of ideas for situational composition on 23 April 2007

It was a Saturday morning. You were in your bedroom when suddenly you heard a loud scream coming from the kitchen. You quickly ran out of your bedroom and went to see what was happening.

  • what happened immediately after that
  • who screamed and why
  • what did you do
  • how you felt
  • what happened in the end

Sharon:

I saw my aunt taking a cup of water from the kitchen and pouring it over the cupboard because many ants were found on it.

My aunt screamed because she was very scared of the ants.

I woke my father up and asked him to do something about it.

I felt disgusted at the sight of so many ants.

My father sprayed the insecticide on the cupboard. The ants died soon after. I felt ...

Lokamitra:

I dashed into the kitchen.

My mum was screaming because she had burnt her hand.

I called for an ambulance.

I felt worried for my mother.

Her wound was dressed in the Accident and Emergency department in the hospital.

A few hours later, she felt better. I was glad her burnt was not very serious.

Vanessa:

I saw a thief.

My mother screamed because she was scared.

I called the police immediately. As I was calling the police, the thief ran away.

I was scared and worried for my mother.

The thief was arrested by the police. We got the money back.

Shani:

I dashed to the kitchen

My mum was screaming because she accidentally cut her finger.

I quickly took the first-aid box, disinfected the wound, applied some medicine and placed a plaster around her finger.

I felt worried as my mother was in pain.

I made a cup of coffee for my mother and comforted her. I hope she would recover soon.

Sharing of ideas for situational composition on 18 April 2007

One day after school, you and your classmate decided to go to a neighbourhood book shop to buy some stationery. While you were browsing through the stationery, you noticed your classmate slipping a black pen into her schoolbag stealthily.

Why your classmate slipped the pen into her bag stealthily
What happened immediately after that
How you reacted and what you did
How you felt
What happened to you and your friend in the end

Diwa and Achaiya
She liked the pen so she slipped the pen into her bag stealthily.
I persuaded her to return the pen to the rack before the shop keeper found out.
I felt embarrassed and tried to dissuade her from stealing the pen.
My friend did not return the pen and was caught by the shop-keeper for stealing it.
She was brought to the police station and convicted of shoplifting. We did not talk much after the incident and after a few years, we no longer kept in touch with each other. It was a loss of friendship which …

I informed the owner about what my friend did.
I warned my friend not to do it again.

Wei Lin
She forgot to bring her pocket money.
The sensors sounded loudly.
I was shocked. I was upset with my friend.
I told my friend not to do that again.
The owner of the shop let her off after a warning.

Natalie

When my friend and I went out of the shop, the sensor sounded.
I was shocked.
My friend was brought to a police station.
My friend’s parents had to …
